Hello members and prospective members. The 2008 flying season is upon us. Lots of members are flying and have new projects and planes ready to fly. Please take a look at the side bar and click on 2008 flying schedule to be aware of some of our flying restrictions.
At our last meeting we discussed members of omac getting lax on wearing (displaying) our membership card and ama member card. Please remember it is not only a club rule it is part of our arraignment with the state. Under no circumstances can a person fly without a valid ama card even if he or she is an omac member. It is allowed for guests and visitors to fly on occasion as long as they have a valid ama card. This is very important and all members must be diligent about policing this. We also have to start using a white freq. stick for those flying on 2.4 so as others know who is in the air. It need only be a white stick with your name and your ama number. No numbers so as not to confuse 72 with 24 if it were looked at wrong.

Wow! That’s all that could be said. What a project. We had a crew second to none show at the field to work on the road project. Near 25 members arrived just after the crack of dawn to begin. At 7 ish rob Douglas and riche from Centerville had already started the upper parking lot where we spread almost 45 tons of dense grade. We raised the parking area almost 3 inches and got rid of the lake in the middle. It looks awesome. The road well what can be said we spread close to 16 tons of cold patch. The guys scraped, blew with gas back pack blowers and dug out each and every pot hole. We then filled them back in to road level with cold patch and then compacted them with a pair of gas compactors we acquired for the day. All we can say is thanks to everyone who came down. No one to be singled out (well bill Lopes) but he was the team leader. Bill Killin, our fearless leader of the club has pictures coming this afternoon so I will get them posted after we huck today. huck you ask ? That’s a new term in flying for going to the field with favorite plane and let it all hang out while enjoying the best hobby in the universe. see ( www.flyinggiants.com) see ya all at the field. Ken
